VISION – A UC Berkeley Student-Run Mentorship Program

What is VISION?

VISION is a 4-day, 3-night, all-expense-paid mentorship program that takes place annually in April where high school students from across California are invited to spend a weekend in Berkeley to explore, discuss, and learn about issues that affect Vietnamese and Vietnamese American communities as well as overarching challenges encountered across all cultures. This year, VISION 2017 will take place from Thursday, April 6th, 2017 to Sunday, April 9th, 2017.

What can students expect from VISION?

Housing and food will be provided for all four days, as well as transportation to and from the students' high schools and Berkeley. Students will have the opportunity to stay with college students. Selected students can expect to network and collaborate with other high school students as well as college students who volunteer as mentors from all over California through interactive activities, workshops, and discussions. The students can expect to learn about different topics and issues that they might or might not have been exposed to before. This program will not only educate and inspire our mentees but also allow them the opportunity to forge new, lasting friendships in a fun and safe environment.

In order to be a part of our program, all students who are interested will need to submit an application (linked at the end of this email). The criteria for applications will be based on the applicant's quality of essays, leadership potential, and enthusiasm for learning. Applicants from ALL backgrounds and ethnicities are encouraged to apply; the application is also open to ALL grade levels in high school, regardless of GPA

Application due Sunday February 24th, 2017
